Gerard turned professional in 1993 aged 20 winning his first tournament four years later in 1997 when he won the WPBSA tour non-ranking event, The Polish Masters. In the same year he also reached his first ranking event quarter final in the UK Championship.
Throughout his career, Gerard has reached four ranking event quarter-finals and one semi-final, his best ranking event finish which was at the Grand Prix in 2007.
Gerard climed four places last season having qualified for five of the six ranking events, making appearances in the first round of the World Championships, China Open, Shanghai Masters, Grand Prix and UK Championships. This season will see Gerard working hard to build on the 2009-10 season and progress to the final stages of events.
